Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Scott Farm has been in active cultivation since 1791. The farm was a key location for the filming of the Academy Award-winning movie The Cider House Rules, based on the John Irving novel of the same name.
Scott Farm Orchard & Market is next door to two of The Landmark Trust USA’s properties (Rudyard Kipling’s Naulakha and Kipling’s Carriage House). Two more of its properties (Dutton Farmhouse and The Sugarhouse) are located right on the grounds of Scott Farm.
Today, Scott Farm Orchard grows more than 130 certified ecologically grown heirloom and unusual apple varieties. Visitors can pick their own apples or visit the Market to pick up freshly picked fruit, jams, jellies, pies, and cider. Scott Farm also offers workshops and events, including pruning and grafting workshops, orchard walks, Heirloom Apple Days, and an annual Harvest Dinner.
Scott Farm is a socially responsible business (Certified B Corporation) and a for-profit subsidiary of The Landmark Trust USA.
Many of Scott Farm’s stunning stone walls were constructed by the expert builders at The Stone Trust, a nonprofit organization whose offices are at Scott Farm and whose mission is to preserve and advance the art and craft of dry stone walling.
