History
Diedrich Uhlhorn, Jr. (1843-1915), a German engineer and fruit grower, developed Von Zuccalmaglio’s Reinette in 1878 in Grevenbroich, Germany. He gave the new apple his wife’s maiden name, Von Zuccalmaglio.
This heirloom ripens in late October, and like most late-season apples, it keeps well for the winter.
