Cameo, also known as American Cameo, resembles a large strawberry, with red striping on a buttery yellow skin, and prominent lenticels, or pores. It is a sweet, crunchy apple with a thin and tender peel.

Cameo was developed from a chance seedling in Washington state. Thought to be a cross between Red and Golden Delicious, it was introduced in 1998.
