Early Joe is a small, early season apple with red stripes. It has excellent flavor, but much of its fruit is misshapen or too small.

Like Northern Spy, the seeds for Early Joe originated in the Salisbury, Connecticut, orchard of Heman Chapin. He eventually planted them in East Bloomfield, New York.
