Winthrop Greening is a large, early-season, oblate apple, with yellow-green with patches of orange-pink and some russeting. Its crispy flesh is fine-grained, and its flavor is mostly sweet. Being an early-season variety, it is best used soon after harvest. It is a good fresh-eating or cooking apple.

Winthrop Greening was discovered by Ichabod Howe in Winthrop, Maine, prior to 1800.
