Empress

Sweet Tart
Description

A medium-sized, aromatic, mostly red apple, Empress is especially good for fresh eating. Ready in August, it is a cross between Jonamac and Vista Bella, it was released in 1966 by the New York State Agricultural Experiment Station in Geneva, New York. Like many early season apples, it does not store well and for best flavor should be eaten within a few weeks of harvest.
