DESCRIPTION
Also called Primrouge for their strikingly red color, Akanes are juicy and flavorful with a firm texture. They are ready for harvest in mid- to late August.
HISTORY
Akanes date back to 1937 where they were raised in Japan. They are a cross between a Jonathan and Worcester Pearmain. In 1970 they began to be distributed commercially.
